As we approach the holiday period and new year, we are looking back at what the business achieved in 2022.

At the beginning of the year ESF CEO Alan Lowry visited EXPO 2020 to attend Northern Ireland Day. Northern Ireland were an integral part of the UK Pavillion at EXPO 2020 and this was recognised on February 16th, 2022. NI Economy Minister Gordon Lyons visited the UK Pavillion back in November where he met ESF's Strategic Advisor Barry Clarke and our UAE Partners Tanseeq.

As business continued and we entered March, ESF won the award for the Most Innovative Family Business Award. This was a special award covering all sector of the economy but spotlighting the recognising real achievement in product or service innovation by a family-owned company.

“Northern Ireland has a really strong family business sector, from some of our very largest companies to a network of SMEs across every sector,” says Business Eye’s Brenda Buckley. “The Family Business category at our annual Business Eye Awards has always attracted our largest and more diverse entry by some distance.

Throughout 2022, ESF was able to showcase products at a wide variety of trade shows and expos across the world. Here are some of the shows we attended

IAAPA Expo Europe - London

Landscape Show 2022

Wetex Dubai Solar Show

Northern Ireland Chamber : Festival of Business

IAAPA Expo 2022 : Orlando, Florida

MAPIC by LeisurUP : Cannes, France

As we approached the second half of the year ESF was able to win the Causeway Ireland Business Exchanges 'Northern Ireland to Scotland Exporter of the year' award at the 2022 Causeway awards in Edinburgh.

Alongside awards, ESF was grateful to be able to continue our expansion into other export markets such as the Middle East and Europe. We recently completed three Large Road Traffic Authority Security Stations in Dubai.

Increasing company sustainability was also a large part of our 2022 as we attended the Greenloop by Blooloop conference, COP26 and multiple sustainability events through the Northern Ireland Chamber of Commerce and Industry. We also focused our Sales to Solar and Sustainable energy products such as our BriteBin, Steora Solar Charging Bench, Smart Flower and Solar Eyes.

ESF CEO Alan Lowry achieved the title of Export Champion for Northern Ireland for the UK Department for International Trade. This brings a wealth of opportunity for ESF and other Northern Irish businesses. Alan Lowry will share his experience in his new Export Champions role and insights into exporting opportunities to support and encourage all business sizes in Northern Ireland to export. With his role as Chair of the federation of small businesses in Northern Ireland, it is also a great opportunity to ensure the 6000+ local members have every opportunity to sell their goods and services globally.

Alongside the title from the UK DIT, Alan has been recognised as an 'exceptional individual' within the family business sector after being announced in the inaugural Family Business Top 100.

As we approach the end of the year, we would like to wish all of our customers, partners, suppliers and wider stakeholders a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and we look forward to the continued support in 2023.

Team ESF.
