Overview
Aluminium is corrosion-resistant material so it lasts longer, columns have a 50 year design life (with a track record in the ground exceeding that). Aluminium requires minimal ongoing maintenance so costs less. Aluminium has a lower carbon footprint to produce and process as a material and due to its reduced weight creates less carbon in transport and installation. The columns are manufactured from 100% re-melt aluminium. The aluminium is itself 100% recyclable when the column reaches the end of its working life.
It’s also more passively safe, reducing the risk of death and serious injury in traffic collisions. Columns are supplied with cable entry guards to prevent cable chaffing thermoplastic route protection system (HDPE root protection is available on request).
Also available in a hinged Echalon raise and lower column which can be easily lowered for quick, safe lantern maintenance.
